Inspirational Eons of Neon

Gaga Hair

Apparently, when I was in 7th grade it was unacceptable to go to Hot Topic and dye my hair every other week from Tiffany Blue to Electric Shock Yellow, but ever since Lady Gaga’s yellow locks (Lichtenstein Inspired?) it’s, well, okay.
Following in her foot steps, perhaps, Rhianna is sporting a red edgy bowl cut, while Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have taken the trend to an entire new level with Gaga yellow (Mary Kate), and Ariel red (Ashley) dripping from their dark black roots. Miss. Katy Perry, shocking as always, has been a huge fan of electric blue lately, rocking her blue dew at the MTV awards.  Maybe shes preparing for her upcoming
role as a Smurfette?
It’s interesting how a simple dye job can be inspirational for future works, and even be channeled for creative decisions. Lady Gaga’s locks in my opinion resemble the canny pop artist Roy Lichensteins 1963 “Crying Girl”, an iconic blonde female comic esq piece produced using Benday Dots. So, what do you think? Was Gaga inspired by this look? As a self proclaimed fan of Andy Warhol’s work, I think so.
