Manifesting the Perfect Dress

After getting the invite to go to the EMMYS to network and promote my upcoming movie, MB YORK SURVIVAL OF THE PRETTIEST, of course I was soon on the hunt for the perfect dress. I turned to both my Scottsdale stylist Jill DeAndrea and my Malibu Vintage stylist CeCe Abel and asked them both to be on the lookout for anything AWESOME vintage that was totally me. As the new beauty host for FashionNewsLive I was already working with them both getting my NY wardrobe together for interviews at the upcoming Spring 2011 NY Fashion Week. In my normal multi-tasking haze I live in, I was thinking both the Emmy’s and NY were both weeks away until my friend Stacy pointed out that I had 3 days until the Emmy’s and leave for NY the following Tuesday. If that wasn’t enough to put me over the edge, I realized that I would have about 20 minutes to run into a local vintage store before an appointment I had that morning. As I pulled up in front of the store and realized it was closed (Mercury Retrograde!) I immediately dialed my friend Corbin Bensen who writes the fashion column FABULOSITY for Arizona Foothills Magazine. Brainstorming with him, I mentioned a great local designer Angela Johnson who I met a year before and asked his thoughts on calling her for something to wear. She answered her phone, was beyond receptive, and said to swing by her cute little “Barbie” studio to see if the ONE dress she had would work for me. Already late for my Microdermabrashion with Dermaplaning with Angela Justus at Dr. Shapiro’s, I said I could swing by right after on the way to my Lip, Lash, and Flash Lounge. Angela expertly whipped out a small blade, and used to not only exfoliate the top layer of dead skin, but to take off every little hair on my face. She then applied a light glycolic peel, and continued to take years off with 2 rounds of microdermabrasion. After a soothing mask, and expert brow shaping, I was out the door looking TWELVE running to Angela Johnson’s design studio. Thinking positively, and knowing this was my one and only opening to find something, I crossed my fingers and hoped for something amazing. After meeting her, and screaming out loud at all the Barbie pink curtains, and creations in the works, I was able to try on the one over the top Vintage ballgown she had made out of recycled ROCK Tshirts. I whipped off my clothes and excitedly put it on, and then jumped up and down realizing not only was it perfect, fit like a glove, but it was totally me, and specifically BEAUTY and FASHION reporter me. One of the logos on the bottom of the dress even says I LOVE NY in a tribute to FashionNewsLive..talk about meant to be!  An organic spray tan by HELENA at my Lip, Lash, and Flash Lounge and I was ready! Later that night I went into my own closet, and with the help of my other fashion stylist, my 8 year old daughter Ellie, I picked my favorite Irregular Choice shoes from London, a little multi-colored clutch from Louis Vuitton with FRINGE,  a multi-colored Swarskii chandelier necklace, and black leather bomber jacket for after-parties. RED CARPET PHOTOS COMING SOON! SURVIVAL OF THE PRETTIEST!
