New mama and star of the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie, Penelope Cruz glows on the cover of Vogue. I remember when I first saw Penelope in a movie. It was Vanilla Sky with Tom Cruise and I was so overwhelmed with the weird plot that her role seemed so minimal. She was the girl with the accent who is dating Tom Cruise. Now, she’s the girl with the accent who has an Oscar for stealing the entire movie of Vicky Christina Barcelona. She’s phenomenal and looks phenomenal.
In the article, many movie stars gush about who sensational she truly is. Johnny Depp, her co-star in Pirates, describes her as follows:
“She’s the dysfunctional Bacall to my twisted Bogart,” Depp continues. “She’s the otherworldly Scarlett to my clueless Rhett. She’s the. . . .” He pauses. “Well, she’s Ricky to my Lucy.”
He forgot one of the most beautiful women in the world. Reading the article made me appreciate her acting skills so much more considering when she moved to Los Angles she knew only a few sentences of English. Now, she can explain exquisitely what it feels like to become a new mother. I don’t think I’ve ever read anything more poetic than her feeling on giving birth to her son Leonardo, with actor Javier Bardem.
“From the first second, you feel so much love,” she says. “It is a revolutionary experience. That’s the best way I can describe it. It transforms you completely, in a second. Nature is very wise and gives you nine months to prepare, but in that moment—when you see that face, you are transformed forever.”
Beautiful. This is an article I highly recommend everyone to read. Penelope is a truly stunning woman.
