The Latest on Oscar de le Renta’s Refurbished Home Collection

Fashion Designer and Style Icon, Oscar de la Renta, has recently revitalized his home line, making the collection both colorful and affordable.

The 80-year-old Designer has been creating beautiful works for the past 45 years. His latest masterpiece is a 100-piece home collection that features island-themes and tropical colors. Inspiration for the line came from the Designer’s “Dominican Republic lifestyle”; and this design esthetic is apparent through his color schemes, dish shapes and over-all-theme. For example there are game sets in the collection, that Oscar personally plays while living abroad near Punta Cana Beach, and dishes shaped as sea creatures.

The home accessories collection includes: dinnerware, barware, serving pieces, lamps, picture frames, candles, games (such as leather dominoes sets and decks of cards); champagne buckets, revere bowls, game sets, silver flatware, plates, etched glasses, candy dishes, corkscrews, bottle openers, nautilus bookends, soup tureens, and even a menu of the designer favorite recipes! Furthermore, Oscar de la Renta has incorporated some of his design elements from his ready-to-wear lines, such as Royals wearing Oscar de la Renta jewelry on a deck of cards, as well as floral prints on trays.

Many pieces from this collection will be sold under $100, which makes it super affordable, and accessible! The tabletop and gift collections are produced in-house, while other products are licensed to industry leaders. For example, the “furniture is licensed to Century Furniture, fabrics are licensed to Lee Jofa, and the rugs are licensed to Elson & Company”(WWD). January 2013 is the official time period this collection will be available in De La Renta’s boutiques, as well as through his online site. He is creating a lifestyle brand with his collections, which range from children’s wear, to couture-styled gowns to flatware! Additionally, we can also look forward to his Spring 2013 collection that will debut in a couple of weeks, on a glamorous NYC runway!
