A new lease was signed and announced stating that Lagerfeld will open a new concept store in the artsy left bank of Paris.
The new layout will be 2,150 square feet and will open its doors this coming February near Café de Flor at 194 Boulevard Saint-Germain.
“For me, the 7th arrondissement is the center of the world. I couldn’t imagine starting with a shop anywhere else,” Lagerfeld said.
The idea behind the new venue is to unveil the “World of Karl.” The exhibition will contain ideas, concepts, and merchandise from the many fashion labels Karl is involved with. Specific items will include design books, photography, watches, sunglasses, and selected limited edition items for sale.
Lagerfeld already has one of the highest reputations in fashions history, and this is simply one more way that his majority owner (Apax Partner) plans to solidify that. This is not the first innovation that Apax has been behind… Earlier in the year they introduced a new masstige range for women and men with the K.L. label, as well as developing a licensing pact with Italy’s Ittierre SpA. The venue in Paris also contains various showcase highlights of the Lagerfeld men’s line that was licensed to the F.D. (Fashion Design) in Germany.
“The development of a strong retail portfolio is a key element of our strategy,” – Pier Paolo Righi, chief executive officer at Lagerfeld. He continued to say that they will “soon announce further openings.”
The interior of the newly designed showcase boutique is a modern black and white contrast with mirrors and glass serving as the surrounding environment. The main floor will contain the highest regarded Accessories and special items, as well as classic K.L. clothing on both floors.
