New Fragrance by Designer Ermenegildo Zegna

“Essenze” is a new fragrance collaboration between Ermenegildo Zegna and Estée Lauder Companies Incorporated.

This is Zegna’s first venture with the beauty brand. Estée Lauder recently acquired the license for Zegna from L’Oréal’s YSL Beauté.  It is a sort of re-launch of the Zegna brand to the beauty industry. With this reinvention of the Zegna beauty universe, Estée Lauder is hoping to capitalize on increasing their share of the men’s fragrance market.  Both powerhouse brands stand for: luxury, quality, passion and commitment. The Essenze line is fashioned after Zegna high-end men’s apparel line, depicting the highest quality and lifestyle; as opposed to his more readily available lines Z Zegna and Zegna Intenso.

Calabrian bergamot is the lead scent ingredient in the quintet collection. The fragrances in the line include: Sicilian Mandarin, Javanese Patchouli, Indonesian Oud, Italian Bergamot and Florentine Iris. Designer Zegna likes the idea of raw materials as the inspiration for the scents.  Some interesting notes added to the fragrances include: pink pepper, neroli, tonka bean, cedar wood, moss and vetiver.  Each of the five products will have a corresponding colored fabric label.

The men’s line is scheduled to launch throughout the world in December 2012. Retail stores in NYC, Las Vegas, Europe, South America and Asia will be the first to carry this collection. The Zegna online site will also sell “Essenze”.  By mid 2013, the collection will be available in additional cities including; Beverly Hills, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, Manhasset, Bal Harbour, Short Hills and Costa Mesa.  Additionally, the line will eventually be available in 500 stores worldwide. Ermenegildo Zegna and Estée Lauder Companies Incorporated plan to add new scents to the Essenze line as well as to develop a men’s skin care line.
