The King of wearable couture, Alexander McQueen, who’s death is still fresh on everyone’s minds, final collection was shown in Paris on March 9, 2010. What was a start of a medieval inspired collection, only finished the continued wondering of what the other looks would have been. This may end up being his most famous collection, for more reasons than it being his last. The Royalness he created with the shapes, while still maintaining to keep it light is remarkable. The 16 outfits displayed were only 80 percent complete at the time of his passing. McQueen had been studying medieval Madonnas and Byzantine empresses which transferred onto the fabrics of his newest collection. His choices in fabric had digital photographs of high-church angels, and demons. Just his ideas and inspirations seemed so in depth that you cannot look away. From the floor length gowns, to the short overly-structured dresses only royalty should be allowed to wear this collection. It is truly superb-Alexander’s passion will live on. He was a master at conquering future looks that strayed away from the norm. The future of fashion may have taken more turns with him still around, hopefully his teachings will guide us in that direction still.

Karl never fails to do it big, the passion he puts behind his collections are undeniable. On March 9, 2010 in Paris he showed his Chanel Fall/Winter Collection to the World. Tromping down the runway in ice block heels the models were decked out in fur, thankfully for those who are against real fur, it was all faux.
The chunks of iceberg that were present were transported all the way from Scandinavia for the event. Karl's collection was original as always, trying things most would shy away from. That being full length fur pants, and trims no one but the master could pull off.
His remix on tweed and fur was crazy, not many combine so many unlike textures and have a great outfit. Model Patricia van der Vilet, from ELITE, was one of the models rocking this unusual combination. Other models were swimming in gorgeous chunky knits, and the men were sloshing through the snow-scape in nothing but fur suits. Never thought a mainly achromatic color scheme could be so intriguing. All the white tights seen on the runways; possible new trend? I think so.

Probably the best part of the Oscars is picking out the worst dressed. How terrible, but not that hard this year. Again, three ladies stood out the most.
First, Charlize Theron, the color and fit were perfect, but what was with those cinnabuns over her boobs? Her makeup and hair were flawless, it's a shame the dress had that detailing...
Jennifer Lopez was probably my biggest pet peeve at the Oscars, I wanted to fix her frizzy hair, and cut off that thing she had attached to her side. She honestly looked like one of those motorcycles with the side car. If you are already wide-hipped you should not add to it. She was just a royal mess.
Lastly, Zoe Saldana- the top of the dress looked so pretty, until the camera zoomed out, all I could picture was the Popples from the 80s. What was she thinking?
Sorry ladies, you three did not quite pass the fashion test this time around. Better luck next time!

Among the competitors for Best Director were the once married Kathryn Bigelow for “The Hurt Locker”, and James Cameron for “Avatar”. It was hard to predict a winner for this group seeing as “The Hurt Locker” seemed to be a favorite for the Oscars.
Kathryn Bigelow’s name was the one called; “The Hurt Locker” was such a success it ended up snagging the award for Best Picture as well. The Iraq War drama clearly had an affect on audiences, Bigelow was the first woman in the 82-year history of the Oscars to earn Hollywood's top prize for filmmakers.
"It's so extraordinary to be in the company of my fellow nominees, such powerful filmmakers, who have inspired me and I have admired, some of them for decades."
Bigelow also went on to express how it was a moment of a lifetime. Cameron was seated right behind Bigelow at the Oscars and joined a standing ovation for her, clapping vigorously and exclaiming, "Yes, yes" after she won. Clearly, no hard feelings on his end, it is a shame Avatar did not get the chance to take home a higher award after all the great feedback he received!

Best Leading Actor at the Academy Awards went to Jeff Bridges for his role in “Crazy Heart” he beat out George Clooney, Colin Firth, Morgan Freeman, and Jeremy Renner.
"Thank you mom and dad for turning me on to such a groovy profession," stated the newly titled best leading actor. He went on to praise the award as an honor for his parents as much as it was to his own self.
Like Bullock, Jeff Bridges was nominated four times in the past with no Oscar under his belt. His time came this year, but may not have happened since Jeff had initially turned down the role! Crazy to imagine how he feels now looking back on that. He clearly made the right choice by going through with the film! Jeff’s future projects include, appearing in the upcoming "Tron Legacy" and another film titled "True Grit.".
Sandra Bullock can finally add that shiny gold man to her awards, she has been nominated in the past, four times, with out winning. Many predicted her win for best actress after her outstanding performance in “The Blind Side”, luckily this time the winner was not a surprise! Her speech was truly from her heart, you can tell when someone is so genuinely happy and she was! The end of her speech was the best part-
Quite a come back after winning year’s worst-actress prize at the Razzies for “All About Steve.”

BACKSTAGE INTERVIEW
CATEGORY: Original screenplay
INTERVIEW WITH: Mark Boal
FILM: "The Hurt Locker"
Q. Hi, Mark. What prompted you to write this particular screenplay? What is it about that subject matter that drew you to write?
A. In a way, I thought it was an eye opening and inspiring let's just say I had an eye opening experience in Baghdad in the end of 2004, and I thought that the story of these guys who have one of the most dangerous jobs in the world would be an interesting way to look at the war in a broader sense. And as I said on stage, it was just an idea and the fact that it's become this is really a I'm tremendously grateful and humbled by the outcome.
Q. You had mentioned in your speech that your father would have been proud of you. How has your father inspired you?
A. In so many ways. Just really teaching me and encouraging me to follow my heart.
Q. Are you scared to death about Best Picture?
A. Well, I'm feeling a lot better about it now than I was 15 minutes ago.

More amusing than a pop-up book, Alec Baldwin, and Steve Martin were absolutely hilarious in the opening. I cannot look at Alec Baldwin with out thinking of the movie Team America, but I have to say I forgot about it while this duo was on stage. What was with them picking on George Clooney though!
When they put on 3-D glasses to see James Cameron, Avatar director, I lost it! James Cameron will be going up against ex-wife, Kathryn Bigelow tonight. Fingers crossed for Avatar. Wait...what are you doing- go watch the Oscars!

One word comes to mind when talking about the Red Carpet at the Oscars this year, and that is interesting. I may be in a harsh mood, but so far only three have truly impressed me. Others are, boring, seen it before, or not age appropriate.
Starting with Amanda Seyfried, she looks glowing; her dress is the perfect color, fit and isn’t over done. She finished off the look with some stackable bracelets. Her hair is pulled back to show off her beautiful face, definitely one of my top favorites.
Second favorite so far is Sandra Bullock; she has been doing great on the Red Carpet lately. Still loving her Alexander McQueen Dress she wore recently, but this one is perfect against her skin. She finished her look with a pop of lipstick.
Last, but my favorite so far is Nicole Richie. Not sure what it is about this dress on her but I am in love with it. It is so modern and a breath of fresh air from all the other boring typical looks. The color, the fit, the long sleeves, everything about it is perfection.
