Kate Moss Meets Topshop…Again

Kate Moss is collaborating with Topshop for a second time to create a new collection. The collection, which becomes available in April, will feature 40 pieces including accessories, clothing, and even shoes.

Kate Moss is collaborating with Topshop for a second time to create a new collection. The collection, which becomes available in April, will feature 40 pieces including accessories, clothing, and even shoes. Moss previously worked with Topshop between May 2007 and November 2010 to create a collection based on her own personal style. Kate Moss is known for sporting the grunge/hippy chic look and we wouldn’t expect anything different with her new collection. And if the Kate Moss and Topshop collaboration didn’t hook you in, “Vogue contributing fashion editor, Kate Phelan, and stylist Katy England,” are thrown into the mix as well to create pieces for Moss’ collection. Moss’ previous collaboration with Topshop was very popular and she was hands during and even after the project-when she revealed the collection, she even posed in the store windows of Topshop’s Oxford Street store. Pieces from her last collection with Topshop included lots of sequins, embroidery, lace, flowy silhouettes, floral patterns, and beading. The collection was detailed, relaxed, delicate, and a little rock ‘n’ roll. We’re excited to see what Moss has come up with for this current collection. Unique - Front Row: London Fashion Week SS14

Jay Z and Barneys

Collaboration Alert: Jay Z Teams Up With Barneys New York For the Holidays

Barneys New York is giving us something to look forward to this holiday season. The luxury department store has teamed up with Jay Z to a holiday gallery space.

Barneys New York is giving us something to look forward to this holiday season. The luxury department store has teamed up with Jay Z to a holiday gallery space. Jay Z worked with Balmain, Balenciaga, Proenza Schouler, Lanvin, Rick Owens, Moncler, and many other big name designers to develop products for the collection, “A New York Holiday.” He chose a theme of black, white, gold, and silver which compares to his own personal minimalist style. And the Balenciaga leather backpack has Jay Z written all over it. Some of the other pieces include a sleek raincoat with gold buttons by Stutterheim, a Shawn Carter by Hublot alligator strapped watch, and an 18-karat-gold double ring with chain-lock detail by Hoorsenbuhs. Since the holidays are all about giving, it’s not a surprise that Jay Z is using this collaboration to give back. Jay Z has decided to give twenty-five percent of sales from the collection will go to his charity, the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation. The collection features pieces that start at $70 and some jewelry pieces reach up to $33,000. Jay Z’s collection will be revealed in stores on November 20th.

Marc Jacobs $70 teeshirt was pulled off the shelves of Nordstrom and some other stores after complaints of the graphics of a boot on the spendy little T were shown to be almost exactly like the graphics used by a  Neo Nazi group called Skrewdrive ,one of the first white-power rock groups on their “Boots & Braces”.  The combat boots were the cover for their album.

A Spokesperson for the brand said, “It has been brought to our attention that the imagery on a T-shirt of ours is similar to that used by a band,”.

“We were not trying to make a connection to that band or make a statement of any kind. We have removed the stock of the shirt from our own stores and offer our retail partners the same opportunity.”

Sak’s is still selling them. It was noted by some observers on Gawk, the site that first called attention to the fact of the graphics, “I think people who pay 70 bucks for a T-shirt aren’t hanging out at grimy punk…hangouts, nor should they be responsible for not knowing the fact that their new shirt is a ripoff of a Skrewdriver shirt.”

Which prompted the reply by another observer,  “I feel like people buying $70 T-shirts are clueless about a lot of things.”

“The Hunger Games” costume designer, Trish Summerville, has teamed up with luxury retailer Net-A-Porter to create a clothing line that is inspired by the action movie starring Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth.

“The Hunger Games” costume designer, Trish Summerville, has teamed up with luxury retailer Net-A-Porter to create a clothing line that is inspired by the action movie starring Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth. But this isn’t Summerville’s first time making her film costumes available for the everyday-woman. She worked with H&M in 2011 to produce a clothing line based on the movie, “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.” Film studio, Lionsgate, announced that Summerville would create “The Hunger Games” collection, Capitol Couture. Capitol Couture was created as a website to promote the first film. It featured photos of the cast dressed in couture gowns for the ladies and suits for the men. Summerville plans to bring those costumes to life with her collaboration with Net-A-Porter. According to the Net-A-Porter site, fans should expect “laser-cut leather, streamlined silhouettes, and dramatic eveningwear.” The Capitol Couture collection will include 16 ready-to-wear pieces, leather goods and jewelry. The collection will go on sale in November, which is the same month “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” will come out in theaters.

“Honestly, I think fashion has a lot to do with when you wake up that day; a reflection of where you are, who you are and what you’re going to do,” said Levine. “I’m not making a pretentious fashion statement, but you have to put something on, and I’m not wearing a fig leaf.”
