Tory Burch Debuts Beauty Collection

Tory Burch, known for her classic handbags and sophisticated apparel, shoes and accessories, has expanded her brand into the world of cosmetics.

Tory Burch, known for her classic handbags and sophisticated apparel, shoes and accessories, has expanded her brand into the world of cosmetics. Her beauty collection, that launched earlier today, features perfume, lip stick, bronzer and blush palette, lip and cheek tint, a face brush, and also shower gel, lotion/cream, and her now signature scented candle. Each piece looks like a piece of jewelry with a geometric gold and orange design and one piece, the solid perfume, is in a pendant and doubles as a necklace. The collection is made up of every woman’s go to product-blush, bronzer, and a lip stain. The line is perfect for the woman on the go who loves efficiency as well as beauty. Almost every product in the beauty collection has multiple uses like the lip tint that can also be used as a cheek stain  and the bronzer that includes pink tones that serve as a light blush. We have to say, we’re very impressed with the collection and it is just as sophisticated, rich, and classic as the Tory Burch brand is. The collection is now available on the Tory Burch website. Pieces from the collection range from $32 to $150. One of our favorite pieces is the “Solid Perfume Pendant Necklace.”

Neo-Nazi Design on Marc Jacob Tees?

Marc Jacobs $70 teeshirt was pulled off the shelves of Nordstrom and some other stores after complaints of the graphics of a boot on the spendy little T were shown to be almost exactly like the graphics used by a Neo Nazi group called Skrewdrive

Marc Jacobs $70 teeshirt was pulled off the shelves of Nordstrom and some other stores after complaints of the graphics of a boot on the spendy little T were shown to be almost exactly like the graphics used by a  Neo Nazi group called Skrewdrive ,one of the first white-power rock groups on their “Boots & Braces”.  The combat boots were the cover for their album.

A Spokesperson for the brand said, “It has been brought to our attention that the imagery on a T-shirt of ours is similar to that used by a band,”.

“We were not trying to make a connection to that band or make a statement of any kind. We have removed the stock of the shirt from our own stores and offer our retail partners the same opportunity.”

Sak’s is still selling them. It was noted by some observers on Gawk, the site that first called attention to the fact of the graphics, “I think people who pay 70 bucks for a T-shirt aren’t hanging out at grimy punk…hangouts, nor should they be responsible for not knowing the fact that their new shirt is a ripoff of a Skrewdriver shirt.”

Which prompted the reply by another observer,  “I feel like people buying $70 T-shirts are clueless about a lot of things.”

“The Hunger Games” costume designer, Trish Summerville, has teamed up with luxury retailer Net-A-Porter to create a clothing line that is inspired by the action movie starring Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth. But this isn’t Summerville’s first time making her film costumes available for the everyday-woman. She worked with H&M in 2011 to produce a clothing line based on the movie, “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.” Film studio, Lionsgate, announced that Summerville would create “The Hunger Games” collection, Capitol Couture. Capitol Couture was created as a website to promote the first film. It featured photos of the cast dressed in couture gowns for the ladies and suits for the men. Summerville plans to bring those costumes to life with her collaboration with Net-A-Porter. According to the Net-A-Porter site, fans should expect “laser-cut leather, streamlined silhouettes, and dramatic eveningwear.” The Capitol Couture collection will include 16 ready-to-wear pieces, leather goods and jewelry. The collection will go on sale in November, which is the same month “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” will come out in theaters.

“Honestly, I think fashion has a lot to do with when you wake up that day; a reflection of where you are, who you are and what you’re going to do,” said Levine. “I’m not making a pretentious fashion statement, but you have to put something on, and I’m not wearing a fig leaf.”

Our Favorite Look of the Week Goes to the First Lady

A Tracy Reese dress can make any woman look great, but Michelle Obama looked absolutely amazing (as always) at the Let Freedom Ring Commemoration. The black A-line dress looked summery with its rose print.

A Tracy Reese dress can make any woman look great, but Michelle Obama looked absolutely amazing (as always) at the Let Freedom Ring Commemoration in Washington, DC. The black A-line dress looked summery with its rose print. This isn’t the first time that the First Lady has worn Tracy Reese, but choosing a dress by an African American designer for this event seemed like the perfect match. And Reese was excited that Michelle Obama chose to wear another one of her dresses for the special day. In a release she stated, “We are honored that the First Lady would choose to wear one of our designs during the celebration of such a deeply significant historical moment.” And the fact that Michelle Obama always looks glowing in Reese’s designs is a bonus. If you loved the First Lady’s look as much as we did, it’s still available on the Tracy Reese site for $498. Better get it quick because it’s sure to sell out in no time.

Supposedly stating the “Nothing is free”, Meghan Chereek has accused Sommers of intimidating and bullying her into sex using drugs, alcohol, and the promise of a successful modeling career.

Sommers, who founded the company in 2007,  is charged with unlawful sex with a minor, unlawful oral sex with a minor, gender violence against the young woman, among other charges.

According to Chereek, Sommers gave her access to one of his spare rooms in his LA home supplying her with a never-ending supply of alcohol, cocaine, and pot.

“His behavior was intended to vex, annoy, or injure Plaintiff, and he unjustly and cruelly exercised his authority and power as president of WILDFOX to manipulate and sexually exploit Plaintiff,” the complaint reads.

The complaint states that Chereek is seeking unspecified damages for mental and emotional suffering, injuries, and trauma, counseling and therapy expenses, shame, humiliation, and indignity, as well as future therapy expenses.

Lady Gaga’s Most Recent and Surprisingly Simple Fashion Choices

Lady Gaga has recently been seen sporting some shockingly normal (well normal for her usual crazy style) outfits. Other than her scandalous, barely there ensemble she wore during her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, it seems like Lady Gaga is beginning to tone down her over-the-top sense of style.

Most of the credit can be given to her stylist, Brandon Maxwell. He told WWD to expect to see Gaga in simpler outfits with more dramatic makeup. She’s been wearing more muted colors and classic silhouettes. But don’t think just because she’s toned down her style, that she’s said goodbye to couture. Most of her recent looks have come straight from the runway or from collections that aren’t even available to the general public yet. Lady Gaga really stunned us with her look on the red carpet at the VMAs wearing an elegant, black gown by Prabal Gurung. Her subtle makeup, simple hairstyle, and modest dress put her on a few best dressed lists.

And one of our favorites from her recent fashion turn-around was her simple, yet chic Balenciaga by Alexander Wang dress she wore as she was leaving Good Morning America after her “Applause” music video premiere. The little black dress showed off just the right amount of skin with a backless cut. She topped the look off with the Ruthie Davis ‘Naomi’ sandal that’s right on trend with a Lucite heel, gold accessories, and a short hairstyle.

And here Lady Gaga is wearing a forest, green Calvin Klein Fall 2013 raincoat on a rainy day in New York City. She rocked what seems to be her favorite wig at the moment and little to no makeup. She kept the look simple with black booties. What do you guys think? Are you liking Lady Gaga’s new look or are you bored with how tamed it is? Personally, we like it. With the neutral tones in her new wardrobe, natural makeup, and chic hairstyles, we give Gaga’s stylist two thumbs up for this transformation.
