Even though the week isn’t exactly over, we just couldn’t wait for this gorgeous look. Our favorite look from this week surprisingly comes from little miss Miley Cyrus.
Even though the week isn’t exactly over, we just couldn’t wait for this gorgeous look. Our favorite look from this week surprisingly comes from little miss Miley Cyrus. The “Wrecking Ball” singer looked beautiful in an all-over sequined, green Marc Jacobs gown at Fashion Group International’s 30th annual Night of Stars event. The shimmery dress draped perfectly around her waist and even though it conservatively covered up her crotch, stomach, and chest (all of which we know Miley has no shame showing), it was still super sexy with an extremely low-cut back. The gown tastefully showed off the right amount of skin and was nip slip proof unlike some of her past outfit choices. She paired the gown with subtle/natural looking makeup, simple and slicked back hair, and black ankle-strap sandals. Love, love, love everything about this look.

We had an opportunity to chat with Michelle Lesniak Franklin, designer of AU clothing and winner of Project Runway Season 11.
We had an opportunity to chat with Michelle Lesniak Franklin, designer of AU clothing and winner of Project Runway Season 11. The Oregon designer has been very busy since her Project Runway winning collection hit the Lincoln Center runway in New York City and was putting the finishing touches on the collection that is showing on the FashionXT Runway in the shipyards of Portland, but she had time to answer a few questions for us.
FNL: It has been a few months since you have won Project Runway, How has your life changed?
MLF:The biggest change is my frequent flyer miles. I travel a ton. Including overseas which is super exciting. I always have a suitcase packed because a lot of times, the travel is last minute.
FNL: What projects/events do you have coming up?
MLF: FashionXT, rebranding, new website, working on production, the list goes on…
FNL: What do you think of the fashion scene in Portland compared to what is going on across the country?
MLF: Portland has a real DIY attitude towards fashion, if you can dream it you can do it…I think that is the biggest advantage Portland has over other cities.
FNL: One piece of clothing/Accessory that is a must have in your closet.
MLF: A great pair of jeans.
FNL: Favorite piece you have ever made whether for sentimental value or for aesthetics.
MLF: My first leather jacket. I made it for my 30th birthday.
FNL: Favorite designer
MLF: Bottega Veneta; a design house that started out in handbags, beautiful and feminine but with an edge.
FNL: What was the first thing you ever made? What age?
MLF: I altered vintage clothing in high school. First thing I ever designed was my prom dress???
FNL: Where do you see yourself in five years?
MLF: Hopefully in an ice cave in Finland with a bottle of Aquavit and some pickled fish.
FNL: Are you excited about FashionXT?
MLF: Of course. FashionXT feels not only like a family but also helped launch my career.
FNL: Who was the biggest influence in your life in relationship to your career choice?
MLF: Family; my Mom, a couple of Aunts, my Dad, and teachers. There isn’t just one person.

Barneys New York is giving us something to look forward to this holiday season. The luxury department store has teamed up with Jay Z to a holiday gallery space. Jay Z worked with Balmain, Balenciaga, Proenza Schouler, Lanvin, Rick Owens, Moncler, and many other big name designers to develop products for the collection, “A New York Holiday.” He chose a theme of black, white, gold, and silver which compares to his own personal minimalist style. And the Balenciaga leather backpack has Jay Z written all over it. Some of the other pieces include a sleek raincoat with gold buttons by Stutterheim, a Shawn Carter by Hublot alligator strapped watch, and an 18-karat-gold double ring with chain-lock detail by Hoorsenbuhs. Since the holidays are all about giving, it’s not a surprise that Jay Z is using this collaboration to give back. Jay Z has decided to give twenty-five percent of sales from the collection will go to his charity, the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation. The collection features pieces that start at $70 and some jewelry pieces reach up to $33,000. Jay Z’s collection will be revealed in stores on November 20th.

Tory Burch, known for her classic handbags and sophisticated apparel, shoes and accessories, has expanded her brand into the world of cosmetics.
Tory Burch, known for her classic handbags and sophisticated apparel, shoes and accessories, has expanded her brand into the world of cosmetics. Her beauty collection, that launched earlier today, features perfume, lip stick, bronzer and blush palette, lip and cheek tint, a face brush, and also shower gel, lotion/cream, and her now signature scented candle. Each piece looks like a piece of jewelry with a geometric gold and orange design and one piece, the solid perfume, is in a pendant and doubles as a necklace. The collection is made up of every woman’s go to product-blush, bronzer, and a lip stain. The line is perfect for the woman on the go who loves efficiency as well as beauty. Almost every product in the beauty collection has multiple uses like the lip tint that can also be used as a cheek stain and the bronzer that includes pink tones that serve as a light blush. We have to say, we’re very impressed with the collection and it is just as sophisticated, rich, and classic as the Tory Burch brand is. The collection is now available on the Tory Burch website. Pieces from the collection range from $32 to $150. One of our favorite pieces is the “Solid Perfume Pendant Necklace.”
