Our Favorite Looks From the Emmy Awards 2013

This year’s Emmy Award attendees showed off some of the best red carpet looks we’ve seen. We loved all the different trends including lace, sheer, bright colors, soft pastels and nude tones, and even saw a couple midriffs. We’ll start with our absolute favorite, none other than People’s choice for the ‘World’s Best Dressed Woman,’ Kerry Washington. She held her title in this Marchesa stunner. She glowed in the light cream gown with gold, lace detail on the bodice and flower appliques flowing down the bottom of the dress to the train. She topped the look off with a pale pink, gold accented clutch, and simple, gold jewelry. The gown was straight from the runway and according to USA Today, Washington said she fell in love with the dress as soon as she saw it at the Spring 2014 Marchesa Fashion Show. We loved how she kept her hair, makeup, and accessories very simple so that all of our attention was on that gorgeous gown.

Another look we loved was from Sofia Vergara. Seriously, what’s not to love about her and her red carpet looks. She showed off her famous hourglass figure in a red, Vera Wang gown. She accessorized the mermaid style gown with bright green jewels.

One of the most popular trends we saw on the red carpet was pretty pastels. And Claire Danes sported this trend fabulously. Danes’ Armani Prive gown was intricate, delicate, and sparkly. The gown featured multiple textures with crystal embellished straps, the clear, sequined top half of the dress and the lace fabric on the bottom half of the dress. Even though we’re crazy about her faux bob hairstyle, we loved her simple jewelry choice and pop of color, red lip.

Julianne Hough looked gorgeous a super sheer, a Jenny Packham gown. The off-the-shoulder gown was covered in crystals and showed off her tiny waist with an embellished belt. Even though the dress was extremely sheer, it was classy, elegant, and very unique. We loved her small, crystal clutch and simple, beachy waves.

One of my personal favorites was Kate Mara’s J.Mendel gown. The long-sleeved gown was right on trend with lace-detailed, sheer panels going across the top part of the gown. We loved the thigh-high slit that showed off  her Charlotte Olympia open-toe ‘Pomeline’ platform heel.

Our Favorite Look of the Week Goes to the First Lady

A Tracy Reese dress can make any woman look great, but Michelle Obama looked absolutely amazing (as always) at the Let Freedom Ring Commemoration. The black A-line dress looked summery with its rose print.

A Tracy Reese dress can make any woman look great, but Michelle Obama looked absolutely amazing (as always) at the Let Freedom Ring Commemoration in Washington, DC. The black A-line dress looked summery with its rose print. This isn’t the first time that the First Lady has worn Tracy Reese, but choosing a dress by an African American designer for this event seemed like the perfect match. And Reese was excited that Michelle Obama chose to wear another one of her dresses for the special day. In a release she stated, “We are honored that the First Lady would choose to wear one of our designs during the celebration of such a deeply significant historical moment.” And the fact that Michelle Obama always looks glowing in Reese’s designs is a bonus. If you loved the First Lady’s look as much as we did, it’s still available on the Tracy Reese site for $498. Better get it quick because it’s sure to sell out in no time.

Our Favorite Looks From MTV’s Video Music Awards

Aside from all of the craziness that happened at the MTV Video Music Award show (Miley Cyrus’ performance, Katy Perry flashing a gold grill, Lady Gaga looking elegant and surprisingly fully clothed on the red carpet) can we please talk about our favorite looks from the red carpet?

Aside from all of the craziness that happened at the MTV Video Music Award show (Miley Cyrus’ performance, Katy Perry flashing a gold grill, Lady Gaga looking elegant and surprisingly fully clothed on the red carpet) can we please talk about our favorite looks from the red carpet? We’ll start with our favorite of the night, Selena Gomez. The singer looked flawless in an Atelier Versace gown that showed off the perfect amount of skin. The long-sleeved, floor-length gown had a peak-a-boo flap that revealed a sequined corset. The thigh-high slit showed off her metallic, pointed-toe pumps. From head to toe, she nailed it.

2013 MTV Video Music Awards - Red Carpet

Two stars rocked the see-through dress trend-Iggy Azalea and Ciara. They both effortlessly pulled of their looks. Azalea wore a see-through Emilio Pucci dress with perfectly placed gold appliqués and Ciara’s Givency see-through ensemble was embellished in zippers, sequins and feathers.

Even though A$AP Rocky looked amazing in head-to-toe Dior with a Hermes belt, his  date, Chanel Iman stole the spotlight in a plunging v-neck J. Mendel gown. The model looked glowing in this metallic, shimmery long-sleeved dress.

Shay Mitchell PLL

Our Pick for Best Dressed Star at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards

Who gets the number one spot on our personal list for the best dressed star at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards? None other than the gorgeous Shay Mitchell.

Who gets the number one spot on our personal list for the best dressed star at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards? None other than the gorgeous Shay Mitchell. The Pretty Little Liars star looked stunning in a Jenni Kayne Resort 2014 ensemble. Mitchell styled this sexy, low-cut jumper with a fun pair of neon yellow Jimmy Choo heels. She nailed the color-blocking trend that’s always in season. And if her outfit didn’t make you agree with us, her new and lighter hair was the cherry on top of this simple and flirty look. Mitchell recently switched her signature long, dark waves for loose, honey brown curls. Her locks were swept neatly to the side, her makeup was glowing, and the outfit was perfection. We have nothing negative to say about Mitchell’s look for the award show. This is how you work the Teen Choice Awards turquoise carpet!

Taylor Swift won 8 out of 11 awards ast night at the Billboard Music Awards. As she accepted one award she told the crowd: “You are the longest and best relationship I ever had.” (That is because everyone else is scared to death you are going to write about it!)
